Assalamu Alaikum. Alhamdulillah. We were able to enjoy the blessings of Eid-ul-Adha a little bit with the severely flood affected people of Saghata Upazilla, Gaibandha, Bangladesh! With a preparation of less than a week we were able to buy a cow and distribute the meat to over 95 families, all praises to Allah. We’ve raised $435 in total from our members and no outside funding was available. The cow and other services costed total 44000 BDT which is about $524, so we are $89 in negative balance. You can still help us to balance out the deficit or we’ll try to balance from our charity fund. Jazakallah Khair!
Here’s a breakdown of the costs. Please see the attached pictures which includes the receipt the purchase of the cow which costed 42300 BDT. There was 1000 BDT Govt. Vat and 700 BDT transportation cost which totaled 44000 BDT. The conversion rate was 84 BDT/USD which translates the cost to $524.
Here’s breakdown of the distribution. Total packet distributed- 95. Each packet contained approximately 850 gram of meat. Distribution of the packets to each village- 25 (Amdir Para), 33 (Holdia), 20 (Sathalia), 10 (Pabantair), 7 (Katabsa). All the villages located in Saghata Thana, Gainandha. The skin is donated to the local Masjid and the cow head was given to a volunteer who helped buying the cow and other activities. Volunteers distributed the meat mostly in secret, so no public gatherings was made. Most of the volunteers was not interested to be part of the distribution picture, and they also disliked to take picture of giving meat to poor people.
May Allah accept our sacrifices and efforts. Barakallah!
